Simplifying your messaging

  • Colourful speech and thought bubbles

Good key messaging is at the heart of effective communications.

This is an opportunity to learn about a very simple tool that can help you build powerful messaging, quickly. It’s called the Message House and can be invaluable in helping you tell your story through a range of channels and in a host of communications situations.

Our presenter is John Walsh, director of communications, engagement and channels for the Ministry for Primary Industries. MPI is a large and very busy agency with a plethora of issues and opportunities always on the go. John will talk about why good messaging is important, the need to find a balance between talking to the heart and talking to the mind, and the need to craft your messaging from an audience perspective.

Prior to working at MPI, John was General Manager for Acumen Republic, one of New Zealand’s larger communications agencies. He previously worked as a political and business journalist.

This is a Community Comms Collective workshop for not-for-profits hosted by Volunteer Wellington and supported by Cabix Communications and JacksonStone & Partners. Community Comms Collective volunteers are welcome to attend.

St John's in the City conference room is wheelchair accessible but there is currently no disability parking due to on-site construction.
