Plain language, better outcomes

  • An illustration showing two different paths from A to B. The top path is a tangled, looping line, while the bottom path is a straight, direct line. A hand holding a marker is drawing the straight line. The image represents the importance of clear, simple communication—aligning with the goals of plain language.

Using plain language in our communications can support equity and access, build trust, increase efficiency, and boost customer satisfaction.

Come along to this free interactive workshop and learn how plain language can help your community organisation.

Run by inspiring and energetic trainer and facilitator Thomas McGrath from Write Group, you’ll learn the practical techniques of good writing to write professionally and save time for you and your readers. Improve your business writing with plain-language tools and strategies that you can use in short emails, strategic reports, and everything in between.

You’ll gain techniques and tools to:

    • understand your readers’ needs and how to meet them
    • follow a writing process that saves time (for you and your colleagues)
    • structure your writing so that your ideas are clear and main messages are obvious
    • write clear, well-structured sentences that are concise and accurate.

For out of towners or those who can’t make it on the day, this workshop will be recorded and shared on our website after the event, along with other AI resources.
