Media coverage of your organisation’s activities or success can be a great way to build profile and increase engagement.
But in today’s rapidly changing media landscape, it’s important to understand how the challenges the media are facing impact on your ability to get coverage.
Come along to this free interactive workshop and learn more about the current state of New Zealand media, what it means for news generation, and how to get your important story covered.
We’ll cover questions like:
- What does New Zealand’s media sector look like in 2025?
- How do I connect with media and journalists?
- Can I use media to reach the audiences I need to? And where are those audiences?
The session will also cover how to keep your organisation out of the media, and other direct-to-audience channels you can harness to generate interest and support for your organisation.
We’re excited to have Allanah Kalafatelis, Head of Communications and Research at NZ On Air, to lead the session. In her current role she has gained unique insights into the state of the media, and how to work with this under-resourced sector when you’re managing communications challenges.
Previously Allanah worked in a fast-paced communications role at the Commerce Commission. Her background is 20-plus years as a journalist.
For out of towners or those who can’t make it on the day, this workshop will be recorded and shared on our website after the event, along with our other media resources.
This is a Community Comms Collective workshop for not-for-profits and collective volunteers hosted by Volunteer Wellington and supported by JacksonStone & Partners. We are grateful for their support and for our speaker giving her time and talent pro bono.
